Our Doctors

Dr. Rob Currence

I fully appreciate the beauty of eyes and vision, and in them I see God’s handiwork. I enjoy serving and educating my patients through the profession of Optometry. I was born in a small town in the mountains of Western North Carolina and grew up on the other side of those mountains in Knoxville, Tennessee. After studying two years at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, in 1979 I graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a degree in History. I have lived in a variety of locations since then, including an island on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, Jacksonville, Indianapolis, and Green Bay, Wisconsin. I received my degree in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia in 1991. I was my class president for 4 years and received clinical honors. My first exposure to Montana was the summer of 1990 when I completed a rotation at the Indian Health Service hospital at the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. My family and I moved to Billings in 1996.

Beartooth Vision Center was established in 2004 and moved to its present location in November, 2008. We practice comprehensive private practice optometry, including extensive contact lens work, treatment of eye infections, allergies, foreign body removal, cataract and refractive surgery co-management, diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, as well as annual eye examinations for the entire family.

I will always root for the Green Bay Packers and the Tennessee Volunteers. As the holder of one share of Green Bay Packer stock I am officially an NFL owner – along with 456,000 of my closest Packer friends, of course.

Beartooth Vision Center provides full scope primary eyecare. From the treatment of glaucoma to foreign body removal, we are equipped with instruments and expertise that allow us to diagnose eye conditions, explain them to you, and if necessary, treat or refer you to a specialist for laser or surgery procedures.
